SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer Clinical Trials Information presented on Clinical Trials Search is not intended to be a substitute for qualified health advice, trips or treatment by using a genuine doctor. We aren't doctors. Always consult your mD on SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer conditions. Clinical Trials Search.org is a site committed to listing clinical research studies in human subjects. SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer Clinical research trials and SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer health trials take place in a lot of of cities across the US. A clinical trial or clinical study is a research project with human volunteer subjects. Clinical drug trials and pharmaceutical clinical trials generally measure the potency of new drugs. The aim of the studies / projects is to answer specific human medical questions. Clinical trials are a popular manner for physicians, government agencies, and private sector corporations to discover remedies for all kinds of circumstances, like SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer. SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer Clinical Trials and other clinical trials allow for volunteers to have health treatment alternatives before they are available to the general public. Many times the test subjects obtain treatment for without cost, and occasionally they are paid for their time. Sometimes there is a cost for a SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer clinical trial. Subjects oftentimes recieve the most effective healthcare possible for their SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer condition. Hazards are a reality, however, and could include additional or frequent doctor visits, healthcare dangers (perhaps life-threatening), and/or the treatment being ineffective. Trials are federally governed with exacting guidelines to protect clinical trials subjects.

SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer

SU5416 and Interferon alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney Cancer

For Condition: stage 4 renal cell cancer, recurrent renal cell cancer
Status: Completed
Sponsor(s): National Cancer Institute (NCI) , Beckman Research Institute
Synopsis: RATIONALE: SU5416 may stop the growth of kidney cancer by stopping blood flow to the tumor. Interferon alfa-2b may interfere with the growth of the cancer cells. Combining interferon alfa-2b with SU5416 may be an effective treatment for kidney cancer. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining SU5416 and interferon alfa-2b in treating patients who have unresectable or metastatic kidney cancer.
Details: OBJECTIVES: I. Determine the efficacy and toxicity of SU5416 combined with interferon alfa-2b in patients with unresectable or metastatic renal cell carcinoma. PROTOCOL OUTLINE: This is a multicenter study. Patients receive SU5416 IV over 30-60 minutes twice weekly and interferon alfa-2b subcutaneously every 12 hours daily. Treatment continues every 6 weeks for a minimum of 2 courses. Patients who achieve partial response or stable disease after completion of course 2 receive additional courses in the absence of disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. Patients who achieve complete response may receive additional courses, at the discretion of the protocol investigator, in the absence of disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. Patients with disease progression are allowed to stay on the study until any measurable lesion increases to over 100% of baseline measurement. Patients are followed for survival. PROJECTED ACCRUAL: A total of 20-31 patients will be accrued for this study within 12-18 months.
