Synopsis: Part 1: To determine the safety and effectiveness of up to 4 different doses of ABX-EGF in patients with renal cancer. Part 1: Closed, no longer recruiting (Completed December 2003) Part 2: To determine the safety and effectiveness of a defined dose of ABX-EGF in renal cancer patients, who had nephrectomy and either failed one biotherapy or received no prior therapy. Study Type: Interventional, Treatment, Non-Randomized, Open Label, Active Control, Single Group Assignment, Safety/Efficacy Study
Minimum Age/Maximum Age: 18 Years/
Genders: Both
Protocol Entry Criteria: Inclusion Criteria: - Diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma - Previously failed one biotherapy or no prior therapy - Has bi-dimensionally measurable disease - Has tumor tissue available for diagnostics - Normal renal and liver functions Exclusion Criteria: - Brain metastases - Hypercalcemia (unless treated) - Cancer therapy within 30 days of study drug infusion - Use of any investigational drug within 30 days of study drug infusion. - Prior treatment with another anti-EGFr agent - Left ventricular ejection fraction <45% - Myocardial infarction within one year prior to entering the study - Other active cancer and required treatment within the past 5 years excluding prior renal cell, basal cell or cervical - Pregnant or breast feeding - Male or female of child bearing potential unwilling to use birth control - Known HIV + - History of chronic medical or psychiatric condition that my interfere with the interpretation of the study results
